On September 17th. will be released the Bootleg Series N0.16 : Springtime in New York
To mark the occasion, the September issue of the DylanHour focuses on the first half of the 1980s in Dylan’s career. As usual, the Dylan camp has gone to great lengths to lift previously unreleased recordings from 1980-1985 from the archives. Essentially, recordings that didn’t make it onto the Shot of Love, Infidels and Empire Burlesque albums or were shelved or set aside by Bob Dylan himself.
On the basis of the book published by route publishing/ by Fontis-Verlag from the author
Clinton Heylin : Trouble In Mind / Dylan.Gospel. Die rauhen Töne der wahren Geschichte, in which he describes the difficult process leading up to the album „Shot of Love“ and also tells of the entire concerts (compiled on the Bootleg Series No.13 „Trouble No More“) before and after the production of the studio album, the DylanHour dives once again into the „Tangled up in Times“ phase of Bob Dylan and brings the musical song pearls to the surface in advance.
The focus of this latest edition is on the outtakes from the Infidels sessions with Mark Knopfler, Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare, which gave the album that special drive.
And it all took place at Power Station Studios on „441 W 53rd Street“, in the spring of 1983. This edition of the Bootleg Series is rounded off by previously unreleased versions of some Empire Burleque songs.
I don’t need no alibi when I’m spending time with you
I’ve heard all of them rumors and you have heard them too
Don’t show me no picture show or give me no book to read
It don’t satisfy the hurt inside nor the habit that it feeds
(Shot of Love /Shot of Love)
They say that patriotism is the last refuge
To which a scoundrel clings
Steal a little and they throw you in jail
Steal a lot and they make you king….
What’s a sweetheart like you doin’in a dump like this ?
(Sweatheart like you/Infidels)
If the weather will be fine for an Outdoor event Dylan-Related-Books will run a musical reading. Playing some of the tracks from „Springtime in New York“ and diving into some passages of the Heylin book.
If you like to support the work of Dylan-Related-Books with the events, the tribute-cd-production and the translation of outstanding literature out of the Dylan-cosmos, I like to invite you for a liitle round on Steady.
